ARCHIVED Year 2 Blog 2024/25

Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to dinosaur isle and fossil hunting today! We started by looking around the museum and learning about all the fossils and dinosaur bones that have been found on the Isle of Wight. We then had a talk learning about what we might find on the beach, including learning what dinosaur bone and fossilised poo look like. Finally we walked along the beach looking for our own fossils and we found so many including fossilised sponges, fossilised poo and even dinosaur bone!

 In English today we were learning about different types of sentences. We learnt that there are four types of sentences- statements, questions, exclamations and commands. We had a go at identifying the different types of sentences and then writing our own. 

 In DT this week we are looking at pizza toppings and deciding whether they are plant based or come from an animal. We discussed toppings such as olives, tomatoes, cheese, egg, pepperoni and salmon. Our next lesson will involve us designing our own pizzas and deciding which toppings we would like to include on it. 

 Year 2 had science on Tuesday and loved looking at the the ducks and how much they have grown! They were helping to care and look after the ducks and even had duck cuddles.
