Trip to Dinosaur Isle

Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to dinosaur isle and fossil hunting today! We started by looking around the museum and learning about all the fossils and dinosaur bones that have been found on the Isle of Wight. We then had a talk learning about what we might find on the beach, including learning what dinosaur bone and fossilised poo look like. Finally we walked along the beach looking for our own fossils and we found so many including fossilised sponges, fossilised poo and even dinosaur bone!

 Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful trip to Osborne house as part of our history work all about Queen Victoria and also to link with our DT topic of bathing machines. We enjoyed a walk around the house looking at the Christmas decorations as well as learning lots about Queen Victoria. We also learnt all about her children in a special workshop about them. Finally we ventured down to the beach to look at Queen Victoria’s bathing machine in order to inspire us in creating our own bathing machines.

 In English this week we have been writing our versions of the story The Lion and the Mouse. Everyone wrote some amazing stories and then we decided to publish them by writing our stories up into books and illustrating them as well. We are going to share our books with reception children at the end of the week.
