Art: mixing colours

Image
In art this week we learnt about secondary colours. We tried mixing the primary colours to create the secondary colours of green, purple and orange and then used different items to create marks on our paper using these colours.

Music: African drumming

Image
In music this week we were lucky to have a workshop all about African drumming. We learnt the names of the instruments and that they are made from natural or recycled materials. We learnt some rhythms and chants and how to handle and play the instruments before having a go ourselves. It was great fun!

Computing L5 - Using Beebot Mats

Image
Today, we used the beebot mats that we drew last week to predict code for, and program, the beebots. We had to think about our start and end points and predict the algorithm that the robot would need to follow to complete the journey. We have got really good at predicting and are starting to see how algorithms are created.

Maths: mass

Image
In maths this week we are continuing to look at measurement. We learnt that we measure mass in grams and kilograms and made our own scales using a ruler and plasticine to compare the mass of two things.

Geography

Image
In geography this week we were continuing to look at continents and oceans. This week we looked at the animals that live in different continents and oceans. We talked about the hot and cold areas of the world and how animals are suited to the different areas. We then sorted animals to the correct continent on the maps.

Science: duck eggs

Image
We continued learning about life cycles in science this week, through studying the duck eggs. We recapped on the parts of the egg and how we would know if there was a baby duck in the eggs. We then used candles to look through the eggs to see which ones had ducks in them. We could clearly see the blood  vessels and embryos in some of the eggs. We then drew pictures of our observations and labelled the eggs.
