Year 2 Blog 2024/25

 In English this week we have been writing our versions of the story The Lion and the Mouse. Everyone wrote some amazing stories and then we decided to publish them by writing our stories up into books and illustrating them as well. We are going to share our books with reception children at the end of the week. 

 Today in Art we used our primary colour paintings that we made in week 2, we cut out sections of our paintings and stuck them into our sketchbooks. We scribed next to each cut out what household items we used to make each mark. 

 This week in music we were continuing to think about pitch. Today we were looking at showing the pitch of a sound in a written form, notating the pitch. We took the idea of a bird and then drew a line across our page to show the ‘flight’ of the bird. We were then able to ‘sing’ the line varying the pitch of our voices. h of our voices. 

 We are moving towards the end of our English unit about the Lion and the Mouse. To help us to be able to write the story next week we had a go at practicing retelling the story this week. We worked with a partner to retell the story orally and to video it using the IPADS. Some great language used as well as people thinking about the pace and expression in their voices. 

 Today in maths we looked at subtracting two 2-digit numbers across a ten using dienes.
