In PSHE today we were thinking about special people. We were thinking about which people are special to us and how they help us. We made posters showing our special people and why they are special.

Maths - Subtracting across a 10
In Maths today we used counters and tens frames to help us subtract across a 10.
History
In history today we found out a bit more about what life was like for Queen Victoria at Osborne. We looked at some pictures from the time, read part of her diary and looked at paintings to find out what Victoria spent her time doing when she was at Osborne.
RE Festival Workshop- Diwali
Today we had our second RE Festival Workshop with Miss Metcalfe. We explored the concept of festivals by thinking about what festivals we knew and how we celebrate them. We then looked at the Hindu, Sikh and Jain festival of Diwali. This festival is often know as the 'festival of light' as people decorate their homes and towns with lights and colours to encourage the Goddess of Wealth into their homes. We talked about how many of our celebrations involve colour and lights too. This festival is a celebration of light overcoming darkness, so we decorated our very own Diya pot (a traditional light holder) to light the way into our own homes.
